March 2, 7 pm: Sustainability & Publishing

Join us for a panel discussing the impact of publishing on the environment. As much as we love books, over four billion are printed each year – and one-fourth of these are pulped or placed in landfills, unread. That’s about 500,000 tons each year!

Come and hear more about sustainable practices in traditional and digital media and how technology is changing the face of publishing.

Wednesday, March 2, 2011
7 p.m., Gorecki 204B
College of Saint Benedict

PANEL MEMBERS: Dr. Ernie Diedrich, CSB/SJU Economics Professor (Moderator); Don Leeper, BookMobile; Keith Goetzman, The Utne Reader; Kelly Spitzner, Green Press Initiative

Citing Sources with EasyBib

CSB/SJU is very fortunate to have many options available for making bibliographies. I would say students have never had it so easy! We subscribe to RefWorks, we have EndNote which comes with our subscription to Web of Science, but many people opt to use the freely available web site EasyBib.

http://www.easybib.com

EasyBib allows you to very quickly create a properly formatted citation in either MLA, APA, or Chicago/Turabian style. Normally, there are advertisements on the site, but we have partnered with EasyBib and OCLC to participate in a trial service which customizes EasyBib to our local institution. Essentially, it allows you to search WorldCat (our local version of it) directly from the EasyBib web site, and you can even chat with a librarian while using the site.

So, let us know what works for you! Do you have a preference? EasyBib, EndNote, or RefWorks?
